Ladders recalled for safety issues

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall notice warning people to stop using Werner’s 20- and 24-inch Multi-Max Pro Multi-Purpose Ladders because of safety issues, according to Safety+Health magazine. The ladders were sold at Home Depot stores and online from November 2021 to February 2024.

The recall notice says the ladders’ locking mechanism can jam and may not fully lock into place. Werner has received 18 reports of falls associated with using the ladders. Fourteen of the falls resulted in bruising; lacerations; head injuries; or fractures to a wrist, leg or the ribs.

The notice also says: “The ladders were sold in silver with a blue top and a blue label on the side rail. The label includes an oval containing the word ‘Werner’ next to the words ‘MULTI MAX PRO,’ along with the size and model number ALMP-20IAA or ALMP-24IAA. The ladders also have a long black rope in the back section.”

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is telling people to stop using the recalled ladders and contact Werner for a refund by calling (888) 624-1907 or emailing ladder@realtimeresults.net. View information about how to dispose of the ladders at wernerco.com/recalls. A check for a full refund will be issued once disposal is complete.
